T-Mobile’s latest fixation appears to be “targeted” offers that are only available to “select” customers, like the recent free line we covered earlier this week. That free line isn’t the only thing that’s targeted right now, because there’s also a few interesting phone promos that also only target specific accounts.
“Targeted” refers to customers that meet specific criteria (of which no one truly knows) that are eligible for additional promotions and offers. These offers are not available to most customers as a result.
For both of the promotions below, documents obtained by The Mobile Report tell employees what ”segment” code, an indicator on eligibility, to look for on accounts. The documents do not detail how a customer would be eligible beyond this “segment” code, so if you are interested in the deal, a call or visit to your local store is in order, just like the free line.
As it is with any device purchase for T-Mobile, expect to pay the taxes for the full price of the device and any assisted support charges up front. The added trade-in value is offered over 24 months of recurring bill credits against the financing agreement of the device. Despite the credits making some devices free, you are still on the hook for two years to get the full value realized on the trade.
Finally, both offers are upgrade-eligible. A new line is not required to get either offer if you’re on the list. There is currently no expiration date on the promotion yet, but that can change quickly.
$700 Off Google Pixel 8 Or 8 Pro With Trade In Any Condition
First, we have an offer to get $700 off Google Pixel 8 or 8 Pro with a trade. If your device is on the list, but water damaged or cracked, that’s not a problem either – you are still good to go to get your Pixel 8 or 8 Pro.
If your account can get the promotion, you can get it up to four times. T-Mobile employees will need to see a “Smartphone Trade ID230426” BAN-level segment code on your account to qualify. As mentioned earlier, only employees can access this detail on an account.
The following devices are eligible for the trade-in and receive the full $700 value:
- Apple

Eligible customers should receive a text informing them of this offer as well, as someone on Reddit received.
$800 Off Apple, Samsung, Or Google With Trade
For even luckier customers, an offer to get $800 off select Apple, Samsung, and Google devices with trade is available. Again, this offer is only for select “targeted” customers.
Unlike the Pixel promotion, this one is only good for one redemption per account. This promotion also doesn’t include trades in any condition, so your device will need to pass inspection to get the credit.
The best part is any device trade in good condition is eligible. Even a flip phone in good condition is enough. T-Mobile employees will need to confirm the “Smartphone_Trade_ID230433” segment is on your account to qualify.
If you’re lucky enough to have this segment, you can snag any of these devices with the offer:
- Apple
- iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max
- iPhone 14, 14 Plus, 14 Pro, 14 Pro Max
- iPhone 13, 13 mini
- iPhone 12
- iPhone SE (3rd Gen)
- Samsung
- Galaxy S23, S23+, S23 Ultra, S23 FE
- Z Flip5, Z Fold5
- A14 5G, A54 5G
- XCover 6 Pro
- Google
- Pixel Fold, 7, 7a, 8, 8 Pro
Eligibility for this promotion does have a rate plan requirement. Internal documents state “SOC Group #75” is required to maintain eligibility. The specific rate plans that are in this group are most modern plans, with the exception of some legacy Sprint plans. However, have a T-Mobile employee verify your plan is on the list first if you are eligible for the offer.
The “segment” code likely won’t appear on the account unless you were on one of these plans to begin with. You’re also not guaranteed to have the offer even if you are on a legacy plan. The truth is, we have no idea what qualifies someone to get the segment.
