The moment many long-time customers have been waiting for is upon us — sort of.

According to a document shared with us here at The Mobile Report, T-Mobile will be offering a no-strings-attached free line to select “targeted” customers beginning today.

The information obtained, shared below, details how the offer works. Customers that are specifically targeted are able to add a line to their account and have it fully credited back as a bill credit every month for as long as they maintain eligibility.

It’s worth noting that the line is Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) only, which means you can’t take advantage of a financed phone promotion on this line.

In addition, the vague “targeted customers” specification means that not everyone will be eligible. As with previous “targeted” offers, we don’t exactly know what the requirements are for a customer to be eligible. Our guess would be customers that have few to no existing free lines on their account already.

The only way to tell if your account is eligible is to ask. Unfortunately, this means support will likely be flooded with customers checking their eligibilty.

All support reps, including in-store, can check your account’s “segments” page to see if you’re eligible. The segment will be listed as “BYOD Line Discount ID230289”, and if it says “Ineligible” after that, it means you are NOT eligible.

Customers interested can reach out to support via any available channels or visit a store to find out if you’re eligible. If your support rep isn’t familiar with the offer, you can direct them to internal document “OR18818”.

Finally, please be patient and respectful with your support reps. Unlike past “targeted” offers, this one should be clear cut. If you’re eligible, you’ll have the segment. This means you should avoid asking multiple reps over and over until you get the answer you want, because you never will.

There’s no end date set yet on this offer, but it probably won’t last long.
