In a move surprising no one, T-Mobile is once again raising prices on many existing customers. Even if you’re price locked or have “5-Year Price Guarantee”, T-Mobile can still raise prices via an ambiguous “Regulatory Programs & Telco Recovery Fee” line on your bill, and they are doing so on October 12th.

The “We need more money” fee

T-Mobile’s online “What’s impacting your bill” page has been updated to detail this new fee. The company describes the fee as a charge “to help recover certain costs”, and is a quick and easy way to pull money from existing customers without technically raising their plan cost.

The fee for voice lines is increasing by an entire dollar, which means a fully decked out family plan of 12 lines will be seeing a $12 increase on their bill. Other lines like tablets and watches are also getting hit, with a $.50 increase each.

This fee is not a government tax or imposed by the government; rather, the fee is collected and retained by T-Mobile to help recover certain costs we have already incurred and continue to incur.

Customers have also received the following email informing them of the upcoming fee increase, as shown below.

Second Increase This Year

This fee increase is the second in 2026, with the previous one being in January. That increase was $.50 per line, with both voice and tablet/wearable lines affected. That’s now a total of $1.50 per voice line and $1.00 per non-voice line in just 10 months.

This fee increase also hits just months after T-Mobile force migrated customers on older plans to newer, more expensive, plans. If you’re on a tax-excluded plan (meaning you pay taxes and fees separately on your bill), you’ve been hit by a ton of price increases this year alone.

If you’re on a tax-inclusive plan, like most of the ONE or Go5G plans, you’re safe from this price increase, at least for now. Some customers on these plans received the email too, but don’t worry, you’re still covered.

The new increases are set to hit on October 12th.
