Un-Carrier events have become quite a bit of a rarity with modern-day T-Mobile. Back in the glory days, the events were exciting events to look forward to, and brought us innovations like no contracts, the “ONE” plan, and more.

Nowadays, when they do happen, we’re often left with a reaction of “meh”. Notably, the last full-blown Un-Carrier event was way back in April 2023, announcing the launch of the Go5G plans.

Since then, there have been Un-Carrier-Like announcements, but no full events. Well, we finally have a date for the next big event.

The new CEO of T-Mobile, Srini Gopalan, has shared on his socials that the next Un-Carrier livestream event is tomorrow, November 20th. The event is themed as “about time“.

So what could the big announcement be about? We’ve got some guesses.

We don’t think it’ll be too earth-shattering, considering the event is only being livestreamed on Gopalan’s personal Twitter and LinkedIn, but you never know!

Same-Day Delivery

A few users have spotted a new option on T-Mobile’s phone pages lately: Same-day delivery.

This is our high-confidence guess for at least one of the announcements being announced tomorrow, as the option has already appeared on T-Mobile’s website. It also definitely falls under the “about time” theme.

It appears under the delivery and pickup options for devices on the site, and it always seems to be marked as “Not available at [zip code]”, as seen below in this example from the Pixel 10 listing. That’s likely because the feature isn’t actually available quite yet, but the website is ready for when it is.

AT&T has offered same-day delivery via its “Right to You” service for years now. The way it works is AT&T will hand-deliver your new device and stick around to help you set it up, if you need it. The service is only available in select markets.

Verizon also offers nearly the exact same setup. In select markets, customers can request same-day delivery at checkout, and receive personalized delivery with help if needed.

As for T-Mobile, it’s not clear if that’s the strategy they’ll go with. As we know, the company has partnered with DoorDash often, including offering free DashPass to customers earlier this year. It seems reasonable to assume T-Mobile will use them for the last-mile delivery from a nearby store, which would greatly expand the same-day service area compared to AT&T.

New Customer Sign-Up Via T-Life

Another popular theory is the announcement could launch new-customer signups in the T-Life app.

People online have noticed that the latest changelog for the T-Life app on both the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store mentions that prospective customers can now sign up to be a customer directly in the app, presumably with no support rep needed.

Would this necessarily be an impressive feature for existing customers? No. But it would fit the “about time” theme of the announcement, by having a quick and easy way for new customers to sign up.

We know this is a feature, since it’s listed in the app stores, but will it be a major part of the Un-Carrier event? We’re not sure. We label this one as moderately-high confidence.

Smart Watches

This one’s out of left field. The final idea we have as to what might be announced is some sort of smartwatch deal.

Consider this one low-confidence, but it’s possible T-Mobile will announce some sort of new program for smart watches, like a flat rate for every plan. Customers on the high-end T-Mobile postpaid plans can already add a watch line for just $5 per month, so maybe that will be expanding to all plans.

We’ll be honest, the only reason this is here is because it really fits the “about time” theme. There’s no sign of this being what will be announced, but one can dream, right?

The Un-Carrier event goes live on November 20th at 11am Pacific/2pm Eastern. You’ll find the stream on CEO Srini Gopalan’s Twitter and LinkedIn.
