Every now and then, we get reports of companies entering a sort of “preparation” mode before a major announcement. For example, when T-Mobile was about to launch their Experience plans, they scheduled leader calls, cancelled scheduled inventory checks, and opened up extra overtime for employees.
Over the last few days, similar actions have taken place at T-Mobile. Leaders have been told to be at work for the first few days of this coming week, and an important Monday morning call for all Associate Managers and higher is scheduled.
Some employees have even been told to come in to work on their day off to attend the mandatory meeting.
So what could it be this time? We have some ideas. Keep in mind, though, that these are purely speculative in nature, as we don’t actually have any concrete proof of anything yet.
Most Likely: New Plan(s)
After discussing with a number of T-Mobile employees, who haven’t actually been told what’s happening, the primary guess of what’s going on is that T-Mobile is about to launch at least one new plan.
It would match what happened with last year’s Experience plan launch, and the timing makes sense with Verizon’s Simplicity plan launch last week. T-Mobile has a history of quickly responding to competition.
One employee made it clear that T-Mobile isn’t currently competing in value:
“Bottom line, cost is what everyone is thinking right now. That’s the only thing. “Value” doesn’t matter. I can get $30 for unlimited talk text and premium data. […] No one cares that it’s America’s best 5G network if they can save significantly elsewhere.”

Could T-Mobile be announcing a brand new low-cost plan? Maybe! It would make business sense, in my opinion. The above quote is right, T-Mobile is losing their value edge.
T-Mobile is keeping whatever this is close to the chest, so we don’t even have speculation as to what a new plan would look like. It would, however, be the best outcome compared to our other guesses.
Maybe Likely: Legacy Price Increase

There’s also the possibility that this could be a negative announcement. Specifically, an announcement of yet another price increase on legacy plans.
T-Mobile has raised the price of legacy plans in two batches, the first being in May of 2024 and followed by most remaining legacy customers in March of 2025. If T-Mobile is planning to raise prices for these customers, there’s a few ways they could do it.
The first would be to simply raise the per-line cost like they did before. That could mean each paid line might increase anywhere from $1 each to $5 each.
Another method of raising prices would be adding some sort of fee. T-Mobile’s older plans often included taxes and fees in the price of the plan, so it’s possible (though, honestly, unlikely) that they remove fees from being included. They could even end the “taxes and fees included” part of legacy plans all together (yikes).
Personally, I think this would be a huge mistake, so huge that I find it unlikely to happen. Still, you never know.
Other Unlikely Possibilities
A number of other ideas were thrown around in my discussion with employees.
One was that T-Mobile could be announcing a major acquisition or merger, possibly even an acquisition attempt by SpaceX/Starlink. The internet recently went wild with that idea when an analyst suggested it could be done. In my opinion, that’s a bit far-fetched, but what do I know.
Then there’s the idea that T-Mobile could be removing the autopay discount for all payment methods except the T-Mobile Visa. That’d be pretty insane, but it’s not out of the realm of possibility.
All that being said, we suggest you prepare for new plans on Monday. It’s just the one thing that makes the most sense.
