One of the hottest deals that T-Mobile occasionally offers is the coveted “free line”. It’s where the company will offer existing customers a completely free voice line for their account at no monthly cost, with a few caveats.

It seems that T-Mobile is now once again offering free voice lines to some customers, and we have the details, including who might be eligible.

As first spotted by many people over on Reddit, T-Mobile is currently offering a free voice line to select customers in a “targeted” segment. This means that only certain customers that receive notification are eligible for the line.

The free line email notification

It’s quite similar to past free lines. The line can’t be used to get phone trade-in or new-line deals, like the $1,100 off iPhone 17 series promo, and it requires you to stay on your current plan and not cancel any lines to maintain the bill credit.

Interestingly, the terms also state that a “qualifying regular-rate postpaid plan” is required, and indeed some customers have indicated that reps have told them they cannot get the free line if they have the famous insider discount. Customers must choose to either keep the 20% insider discount or take the free line, but not both.

Other qualifications are that you must be on a family line with at least 2 paid lines, you can’t already having more than 2 free lines on the account, and you can’t be on a “segmented” plan like first responder, military, or 55+ plans.

Eligible customers have or will be notified if they qualify via a text message, and email, and/or an offer in the T-Life app. If you don’t get a notification, you’re not eligible.

If you see the notification, you can contact T-Mobile support to add the free line. Note that there will be a one-time $10 connection fee and if your plan doesn’t include taxes and fees, you’ll have to pay those every month on the free line too.
