Yesterday we reported some rumbling internally at T-Mobile. We knew something was coming, but we didn’t quite expect two entirely new plans. That seems to be what has happened though, as T-Mobile has announced two brand new top-tier plans that promise to give the best of the best service T-Mobile has to offer.
Two new “Experience” plans
Launching tomorrow, April 23rd, the all new “Experience More” and “Experience Beyond” plans offer a few increased perks at a slightly lower price.
The “Experience More” plan is equivalent to the current Go5G Plus plan. The perks are the same, except now customers get 60GB of high-speed hotspot data (10GB more than Go5G Plus) and satellite connectivity via Starlink included through the end of 2025. Not only that, but the plan is $5 less than the existing Go5G Plus plan.
“Experience Beyond”, however, is the more interesting new plan. It closely matches the existing Go5G Next plan, but now includes a whopping 250GB of hotspot data per line. That’s a 200GB increase over the original Go5G Next’s 50GB, and 50GB more than Verizon just gave their highest plan. Unlike Verizon though, which offers 6mbps speeds after the hotspot allotment, T-Mobile offers just 600kbps.
The new Beyond plan also includes 30GB of high-speed Canada and Mexico data per month, which is twice as much as the Next plan, and 15GB of international data globally, which is 10GB more than before. Beyond also includes satellite connectivity at no charge, just like Go5G Next.
Both of the new plans include a new 5-year “Price Guarantee”. This guarantee is line-level, and remains as long as you keep the same plan. It replaces Price Lock, and does not retroactively apply to older plans.
What’s the catch?
There’s only one catch with these new plans, and it’s kind of a big one. Taxes and fees are no longer included on the new plans.
This is a huge shift from the last decade for T-Mobile. Taxes and fees have typically been included on every plan since the T-Mobile ONE plan launched in 2016. Not including them now is a big deal, and it means your monthly bill might not be as predictable as before.
The good news is existing customers aren’t losing their tax-inclusive plans. If you currently have taxes and fees included, you will continue to. Just be sure not to change your plan!
Bonuses for existing Go5G Next customers
There’s good news for existing Go5G Next customers, too. Within the next two billing cycles, customers on Go5G Next will receive the data benefits of the Experience Beyond plan at no additional charge.
That means extra hotspot data, extra North America data, and extra international data. Not too shabby.
Existing customers keep promos when switching plans
One key thing existing customers might be wondering is what happens when you change plans to one of the new Experience plans? The good news is you’ll keep your promos. In fact, Go5G Next customers get even better news.
Customers with “free” lines who migrated to Go5G Next in the past were surprised to see the “free” line actually costs $10 per month. This was a change made by T-Mobile due to the increased benefits a Go5G Next line had. Now, on Experience Beyond, those free lines are actually free!
If you switch to either Experience plan, your free lines will be free. That makes switching from Go5G Next to Experience Beyond a very enticing offer, unless of course those taxes and fees cost more than the discounted line does.
Plus, other discounts, like insider, will also transfer to the new plans.
The end of Go5G
The Go5G plans launched just two years ago. The new Experience plans are now set to replace these plans starting tomorrow, April 23rd.
Sources originally suggested that the Go5G plans will remain available for new customers for a limited time, but now we have word that they will go away and only the new Experience plans will remain, alongside the Essentials plan and the Essentials Saver budget plan.
That means there’s no more Go5G base plan equivalent, and the new standard tier is the “Plus” equivalent Experience More plan.
There are also going to be segmented versions of the Experience plans. That means 55+, First Responder, and Military versions will exist.
Interestingly, the new plans were originally scheduled to launch in June. The timeline was moved up though, likely in response to Verizon.
Overall, the new plans are somewhat enticing. The only thing that should make you hesitate is taxes and fees. If the benefits outweigh the negatives, you can switch over to one of the new Experience plans beginning tomorrow, April 23rd.
