T-Mobile has been offering free phones since all the way back in April of 2021 as part of their “5G For All” program. In exchange for any working phone, T-Mobile would give you a brand new budget-range 5G phone for free via 2 years of bill credits.
A few times, the company has offered free 5G phones for even broken phones. Whether you had an iPhone 5 shattered into pieces, an original Samsung Galaxy with a busted screen, or any other non-working or damaged device, T-Mobile would take it as a trade for a new phone. That offer is back again, and this time the company will give you a free Motorola Edge 2022.
Customers on any of T-Mobile’s postpaid plans that can finance devices can trade in “any device in any condition, including broken” and receive a new Motorola edge 2022 via 24 months of bill credits.
The Motorola edge 2022 features a 6.6″ FHD+ pOLED screen running at a 144 Hz refresh rate, along with 128 GB of storage and 8 GB of RAM. The CPU is a MediaTek Dimensity 1050, an octa-core chip running at 2.5 GHz.
The phone has a large 5000 mAh battery and supports up to 15 watts of “turbo power” charging. There’s a 50 MP main camera, a 13 MP ultrawide camera, and a 2 MP depth camera around back, along with a 32 MP front-facing camera.
At a full price value of $498, snagging one for free isn’t too shabby.
There are other options as well. The REVVL 6 5G, the Motorola moto g 5G, and the TCL 30 XE 5G are all available for free with broken trade. Most of them have been part of the damaged trade promo since last year. That being said, none of these devices are as impressive on specs as the edge 2022 is.
T-Mobile also offers a few other devices for free with any trade-in, though they require the trade-in device to be fully working and functional. Those devices include the OnePlus Nord N30 5G and N300 5G, the Motorola moto g stylus 2023, the Samsung Galaxy A14 5G, the TCL Stylus 5G, the Nokia G400 5G, the REVVL 6 Pro 5G, and the Sonim XP3plus flip phone. That’s a lot of options.
There is a small catch though: taxes and fees. You’ll need to pay tax on the full retail value of any of these phones up front, as well as T-Mobile’s infamous $35 Device Connection Charge. Costco customers can avoid the DCC fee by completing their transaction in a Costco warehouse location that offers T-Mobile sales.
Customers interested in the free Motorola edge 2022, or any of the other free phones, can purchase now online or in-store. There’s currently no end date set for this particular promo, but if interested you should act soon, as the deal might not last long.
