T-Mobile’s popular Home Internet service has been available widely since April of 2021. It provides great speeds in many areas where existing ISPs are underserving customers. The only downside is the firmware on the Home Internet gateways.

The gateways are very locked down by T-Mobile, only offering basic signal strength info and allowing zero customization. The good news is a new app is now available to easily access statistics for the three main Home Internet gateway models and allows customers to toggle a few basic features.

A developer named Zachary Wander has created an app called “HINT Control” that gives users the ability to easily view every statistic available about their internet connection. This includes signal strength, connection bands and bandwidth, and more.

Users can also toggle a few settings that aren’t normally available. Turning the 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi radios and turning on and off band steering are available, plus the ability to create and edit SSIDs.

Currently the app only works with the Arcadyan and Sagemcom models of Home Internet gateways. A future update may add compatibility with the Nokia model as well.

The latest update has added support for the Nokia gateway. That was quick!

The app is now available on the Google Play store, and is also available for Windows, Linux, Mac, and iOS via GitHub, though the latter requires sideloading. Details and source code can be found on the app’s GitHub page.
