Update: T-Mobile has provided a response.
Who doesn’t love free and cheap stuff? From free physical items like festive holiday glasses and flashlights to discounted movie tickets, T-Mobile Tuesdays often comes in clutch with some popular offers.
One such offer was available today: a 1-cent 3pc chicken tender combo from Wingstop.
The offer was so popular, however, that it seems it overwhelmed Wingstop to the point of complaint. As of now, the offer is not only marked as “sold out” for users on the T-Life app, but T-Mobile appears to have rescinded the offer even for customers that had pre-saved the offer.
Typically, when an offer is available on a “limited” basis, customers that have saved the offer to their T-Life account (but not yet redeemed it with the merchant) get to keep their perk, even if it sells out before the expiration date. This time, however, that doesn’t seem to be the case.
Even for customers that got past T-Life’s redemption and ended up on the Wingstop website were met with error. “This offer was so popular that we have Sold Out” says the error message on the Wingstop app. This is after T-Mobile had already issued a valid promo code, as seen in the image below (from Reddit).
Unfortunately, things like this happen. Long-time customers of T-Mobile will remember the Domino’s pizza fiasco back when T-Mobile Tuesdays first launched. The free pizzas were so overwhelming to Domino’s locations nationwide that the company cancelled the deal and stopped offering the freebie moving forward. Still, even then, customers that were given a code were able to use it.
Anecdotal reports from various places online suggest that some Wingstop locations were flooded with customers today, and that wait times were long. We don’t envy the poor employees that had to deal with that mess, either.
That being said, when an offer is pulled away from customers that assumed they had secured it, it does leave a bad taste in the mouth.
We reached out to T-Mobile about the issue and received the following response:
Thanks for reaching out. Customers loved the $0.01 Wingstop combo so much that stores sold out – something that hasn’t happened for a few years! We love that our customers love T-Mobile Tuesdays perks, including these delicious chicken tenders. We’re committed to providing our customers the best possible experience and we apologize for the inconvenience.

In the meantime, there’s still a few offers to be had today. A $5 movie ticket to see A Working Man with Jason Statham is still available, and of course the always popular free season of MLB.tv is also ready to claim. Oh, and the monthly Slurpee, if you haven’t grabbed that already this month.
