We previously covered the rumor that T-Mobile would soon allow open enrollment for customers devices at any time. We can now confirm that news with supporting documents.

According to pages sent to us here at The Mobile Report, Protection 360, T-Mobile’s device protection insurance service, can now be added to customer devices at any time. Previously, the protection could only be added at time of purchase or within 30 days of purchase.

Customer devices must pass a 3-point inspection in-store before protection is added, to prevent fraudulent claims. The 3 inspection points that must pass are as follows:

  • No liquid damage
  • No physical damage, including front and back glass
  • Device must power on

Customers can even add protection to devices not purchased at T-Mobile, under a BYOD protection plan.

In addition, another small change is that customers no longer have to purchase a screen protector at the same time as P360 to get unlimited screen protector replacements. Customers with P360 on their device can purchase a screen protector at T-Mobile at any time and become eligible for free replacements going forward.

The new P360 enrollment is available now to all postpaid customers, including business customers.
