Financed/free devices on carriers are a double-edged sword. On one hand, they’re an easy way to get a new smartphone for cheap/free. On the other hand, carriers also use them to keep you locked to their service for the long haul. These phones are tied to carriers, and if you want to move away from it, you either need to pay off the phone in full or stick with the carrier for a specific period of time.

It works, which is why carriers looking to grab these people need to get a little creative with their tactics. T-Mobile has offered a program called “Keep and Switch” since 2020, where it will essentially buy out your phone to get you to switch carriers. Periodically, the company updates the list of phones eligible for Keep and Switch, and that time has now come once again.

T-Mobile now has a range of new devices that are available to users who want to switch to the carrier. The new devices are as follows:

  • Samsung Galaxy S24 series (S24, S24+, S24 Ultra)
  • Motorola Edge 2021
  • Motorola Edge 2022
  • Motorola Edge+ 2022
  • Motorola Razr 2023
  • Motorola Razr+ 2023

These new devices join many of the existing devices that were part of the program before. The full list can be found by going to this page and clicking “Click here for complete list” on Step 1.

The following devices have now been removed from the program:

  • Apple: iPhone 6s, 6s Plus, 7, 7 Plus, 8, 8 Plus, X, XR, XS, XS Max, 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max, SE (2020)
  • Google: Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL, Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL, Pixel 4, Pixel 4 XL
  • Samsung: Galaxy S8, S8+, S9, S9+, S10, S10e, S10+, Note 8, 9, 10, 10+, Z Flip 5G

As a reminder, Keep and Switch gives you the option to switch to T-Mobile and keep your current phone, while also reimbursing them up to $800 for their device payment plan via a prepaid Mastercard. It can’t be combined with other rebates, and it can be redeemed up to four times per account. Make sure to hop on it now if you have any of the above devices and you happen to want to go magenta.
