Hey there! Looks like you're blocking ads.

We get it, they're annoying, and we won't stop you. However, consider adding us to your allowlist, or joining our Patreon to support our independent journalism. Tiers start at just $1/mo!

If you’re like me, you’re getting pretty tired of everything going up in price lately. That’s especially true when it comes to streaming services.

Netflix is probably the worst offender when it comes to raising prices. The company has raised their prices almost yearly since 2014, and combined with the absolutely ridiculous password-sharing crackdown, it’s no wonder most people find it not worth the price.

Luckily for T-Mobile customers, the base plan of Netflix (with ads) is included with most plans. If you’re one of these customers, you might be wondering what this latest price increase means for you.

T-Mobile will cover the price increase…for the base plan

If you’ve got Netflix “On Us” via T-Mobile, and you’ve chosen to only use the basic Standard w/Ads plan that is included, you’re good to go. T-Mobile will continue to cover the full price of this plan.

If, however, you’ve chosen to upgrade the base plan to Standard without ads or Premium, you’ll be on the hook for those increases.

This news comes direct from T-Mobile, who confirmed the news with us via email.

Here’s the breakdown:

Plan NameOld PriceNew Price
Standard (with ads)FreeFree
Standard (no ads)$11/mo$13/mo
Premium (no ads/4k)$18/mo$20/mo

Discounts aren’t equal among plans

You might notice that with the base cost of the Standard w/ads plan being $8.99 moving forward, that will effectively be the “value” that T-Mobile is adding to your plan by covering it. However, for the higher tiers of Netflix, that value is lower.

This has been true for a while now, but essentially, T-Mobile is only covering $6.99 of your Netflix price when choosing to upgrade it to the higher tiers. Even though they cover the full $8.99 of the Standard w/ads plan.

If T-Mobile really wanted to be nice, they’d cover the full $8.99 for the Standard w/no ads and Premium plans too. Oh well.

The new Netflix prices will take effect over the next month or so for existing customers. Once that happens, the price increases will hit T-Mobile bills the following bill cycle (if you have a higher Netflix tier).
