The base Motorola Edge from last year isn’t the fastest or newest phone on the block. But it offers an okay set of features—some of them on the bleeding edge side, such as a really nice 144Hz screen. It also features a 50MP camera, 256GB storage, and a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor.
Of course, the only thing better than a cheap phone is a free phone, and that’s what T-Mobile is giving you right now for a limited time.
T-Mobile is offering the Motorola Edge 2024, typically priced at $299.99, for free right now. We’ve seen a few offers for free phones from T-Mobile in the past, so this isn’t particularly new, but this one is exciting for a few reasons.
It applies to most plans (basically any postpaid plan that can finance a device), and all you have to do is trade in any phone to take advantage of the offer, even a busted phone. The cost of the phone will be applied to your account via 24 monthly bill credits over two years.
The trade-in has no restrictions, and you should be able to basically just take any old phone you have lying around in a drawer. Quite literally, you could find a smashed up phone on the side of the road and it would qualify for this promo.
If you prefer, you can also get the offer by adding a line instead, but we don’t recommend that, as there are typically a few better deals available for new lines.
This phone still sits as an okay budget option for a lot of people, supporting 68W charging, reaching a 50% battery charge in 15 minutes, and offering IP68 water protection.
Some may not love Motorola because of its subpar update policy—Motorola phones get two years of updates at most, and a lot of them barely get one. By getting an older phone you’re sitting on the shorter end of the stick here, but if you don’t care about updates, you might as well grab this. It is free, after all.
The offer is available now in-store and online or via the T-Life app. Remember, there’s still a $35 DCC fee for every upgrade, and you’ll have to pay taxes up front on the full $299.99 price. Still, not bad.
