Metro by T-Mobile

Yesterday, T-Mobile announced all new flagship plans for postpaid customers. The “Experience More” and “Experience Beyond” plans offer incredible features and value. One issue, though, is those plans are a bit pricey for some customers. That’s where Metro by T-Mobile comes in.

Metro by T-Mobile, the Magenta carrier’s prepaid branch, has announced lower prices, four new plans, and guaranteed pricing for five years. An even sweeter bonus is that customers who bring their number with them can get a new phone on each plan.

Metro Starter, Metro Starter Plus, Metro Flex Unlimited, and Metro Flex Unlimited Plus are the newest additions to the plan roster. Starter is the cheapest, starting at $25/person per month with AutoPay for four people. Customers signing up for Metro Starter get a new phone, T-Mobile Tuesdays, Scam Shield, unlimited talk and text, and 10GB of high-speed data, all without needing to bring their own number.

Step up to Metro Starter Plus and get unlimited talk, text, and 5G data, plus T-Mobile Tuesdays, Scam Shield, and a season-long subscription to MLB.TV and MLS Season Pass on Apple TV for $40 per month with no AutoPay needed. If you bring four people, though, the price drops to $25 per line. New customers who bring their own number also qualify for a free 5G phone, in addition to the aforementioned benefits.

Up one more step is Metro Flex Unlimited. For $30 per person per month, four people can get unlimited talk, text, and data, plus 8GB of hotspot data, along with T-Mobile Tuesdays, Scam Shield, and 100GB of free storage with Google One. Like the other plans, customers get a free phone when they sign up for Metro Flex Unlimited.

At the very top is Metro Flex Unlimited Plus, which combines the benefits of Flex Unlimited with a $10 monthly price drop for the first line. Alongside the free 5G phone, customers also get unlimited free texting from the U.S. to over 210 countries, HD streaming, Amazon Prime, 25GB of hotspot data, and a $5 per line cost to add smartwatches or tablets.

The 5-year price guarantee & limited-time deal

Regardless of the plan, customers get the same price for five years from when they sign up. Existing customers on the Flex plan and Metro’s BYOD plan get the same perks starting on April 24.

Additionally, from April 24 through May 14, customers can add a 2GB line to any plan for just $15 the first month, and only $5/month after that.

Final thoughts

If you were looking to spend less on your mobile plan and don’t need the features of the big carriers, these new plans could be your lifeline. Metro has always been known for affordability, and it’s good to see that T-Mobile is continuing the tradition. Which plan catches your eye?
