Carrier trade-in deals tend to be generous. It’s not uncommon to see carriers offer free phones in exchange for an eligible trade-in or a line sign-up right around the time a new phone comes out.
The iPhone 16 series has been out for many months now, but if you somehow missed the initial promotion period, AT&T just launched another offer that’s just as good, if not better.
AT&T has just launched an offer that allows both new and existing customers to receive substantial discounts on the new iPhone models, including the iPhone 16, 16 Pro, and 16 Pro Max, by trading in older devices.
The value of the trade-in discount varies depending on the model of the new iPhone purchased and the value of the traded-in device. The highest discount tier offers up to $1,000 off an iPhone 16 Pro or 16 Pro Max, and requires the trade-in of an iPhone 13 Pro or newer or any other smartphone with a trade-in value of at least $230.
Notably, this now includes damaged phones, so if you have an iPhone 13 Pro with a busted screen, you can exchange that for a brand-new iPhone 16 Pro.
A second tier offers up to $830 off any of the iPhone 16 models. This is available to customers who trade in an iPhone 12 or newer, or any other smartphone valued between $130 and $229. Again, the condition of the iPhone does not impact eligibility.
Finally, a discount of up to $350 is available for any iPhone 16 model when trading in any iPhone, regardless of condition, or any other smartphone with a trade-in value between $35 and $129.
To take advantage of the offer, customers must purchase an eligible iPhone 16 model on an AT&T installment plan and activate it on an eligible unlimited data plan. The discount is applied through bill credits over the term of the installment plan, as with most promos of this type.
The promotion is pretty straightforward: Customers receive a discount based on the value bracket their trade falls into—as long as it’s an iPhone or otherwise meets the trade-in requirements, you’re good.
