T-Mobile has owned Metro by T-Mobile, formerly MetroPCS, since 2013. The brand became Metro by T-Mobile and gave T-Mobile an entire prepaid business, leaving a prepaid option customers could acquire directly from the carrier.

Back in May of this year, Metro began offering new “Flex” plans. These were designed to simplify the plan offerings at Metro and promised to give both new and existing customers access to the same phone deals.

According to a screenshot shared with us here at The Mobile Report, customers who sign up for certain Metro Flex plans will be offered either a $50 or a $100 rebate after two months.

The new program offers “Flex Up” and “Flex Plus” plan holders a rebate once they make their second month’s payment. Weirdly, the cheaper “Flex Up” plan gets the $100 rebate, while the more expensive “Flex Plus” plan only gets $50. We’re not sure why that is.

Metro’s goal with the program appears to be all about retention. Customers that have a reason to stick around might be more willing to finance a more expensive device. That all leads back to more profit for the company.

It’s unclear if existing customers who signed up before August 22nd are eligible for the rebate, but the document does refer to “tenured” customers, so it’s possible the program will be available for long-term customers. It’s not actually clear if the “Fast Pass” program is even available online, as there’s no mention of a rebate on the website.

Overall, with only this one image to go on, we’re admittedly missing some details. We’ll be sure to update this post if we learn more.

The “Fast Pass” rebate program began on Thursday, August 22nd.
