Sometimes we’re a bit careless. Whether you’ve slammed your phone in the car trunk, dropped it in a nearby lake, or had your dog eat half of it, some of us just need insurance coverage on our phones.
T-Mobile has offered Protection 360, or P360, for a while now. Recently, news broke that the company will now allow enrollment for new devices at any time, not just within 30 days of purchase. Now, the company is doing even more to justify P360’s prices.
According to documents shared with us here at The Mobile Report, shown below, T-Mobile will soon add a number of extra benefits and perks to P360, including free screen repairs.
The documents show that T-Mobile, through their partnership with Assurant, will soon offer $0 front screen replacements ($29 for eligible iPads) and low-cost back glass replacements ($10-$29 depending on device).
Other repairs, like SIM tray repairs and charge port replacements, remain at their existing $10 to $199 range (depending on device value). Loss and Theft replacement costs will also remain the same, from $10 to $499 as well, again depending on device’s value. Mechanical and hardware failures at no fault of the user remain $0.
This is an upgrade over the existing program in two ways. First, screen replacements were $29 for all tiers before (except tier 1), and those will now be free. Back glass replacements, which previously would have fallen under the “Other Repairs” category, will now have their own category and cost the much lower $10 to $29.
The icing on the cake here is that, at least for now, the pricing for P360 is remaining the same. A chart is shown below for each tier and its cost. You can find what tier your device would be on the T-Mobile Assurant claims website here.
It’s also worth noting that, though it likely won’t impact many customers, T-Mobile will begin charging a 5% late fee for P360 costs that are late on the account due date. Make sure you’re on-time with those payments!
The new Protection 360 benefits begin October 1st. Existing P360 customers are already being sent information about the program changes via mail.
If you’re interested in signing up your device (including a BYOD device not purchased from T-Mobile) you can do so at your local T-Mobile store or by contacting support.
