With each carrier, you get a unique set of perks that come as part of your basic service so you get a little more of a bang out of your buck. With T-Mobile, a lot of those perks come with the T-Life app, which gives you things like real-life perks every so often. AT&T has other kinds of perks, such as the ActiveArmor security app, which now has a password manager, for some reason.

AT&T has expanded its ActiveArmor mobile security app by adding five new functionalities aimed at increasing protection against identity theft and online threats. The app is already known as a tool for managing unwanted calls and blocking potentially harmful websites for AT&T users, and it now includes tools for personal information recovery and management. Some of them are useful, and others might just be unnecessary replacements to apps you already have.

Firmly into the latter territory, we have a password manager that allows you to generate, store, and retrieve login credentials, as well as automatically fill out your password in online forms. This feature is complemented by a web browser extension for Chrome, Safari, and Edge, which syncs passwords between the mobile app and desktop computers.

This could be pretty useful if you don’t happen to already pay for a good password manager, but chances are that most people won’t use this—even if you don’t have a dedicated password manager app (of which there’s a ton of good ones even if you look only at free options, like Bitwarden), you might still subconciously use your phone’s built-in password manager, or the one in your browser.

The other features might be a bit more useful, though a lot of it is stuff you might still want to do by yourself.

First, there’s a “Lost Wallet Recovery” service that assists users in replacing lost or stolen credit cards, debit cards, checkbooks, or driver’s licenses.

Then there’s an “ID Restoration” service that provides support in cases of identity theft, helping you work with credit bureaus, contact creditors, and file necessary reports.

Lastly, a “Social Media Identity Protection” feature enables the app to monitor linked social media accounts for signs of unauthorized access, potential scams, malicious links, or other content.

These new features are bundled into the ActiveArmor Advanced mobile security plan. This plan is available at no additional cost to customers on select AT&T wireless plans or for a monthly fee of $3.99 for subscribers on other plans—if you’re subscribed to a basic plan, you still get access to a more basic version of the app with less features.
