We often hear of rumors or speculation concerning things that could be coming for every carrier. Often, the rumors aren’t enough to work off of or report on. Every now and then, however, a rumor is credible enough to warrant coverage, and that appears to be the case today.

Confirmed by multiple employees and internal sources, an all-hands leader call is scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday April 22nd, at noon Eastern. The weird thing here is that we have no idea what the call is about, only that it could be “big”.

What we know so far

The call is for leaders in T-Mobile, which in this case includes Associate Managers and above in retail, Coaches and above in customer care, and certain managers in third-party owned locations.

The call is scheduled for noon Eastern, and will last approximately one hour.

According to sources, a regularly scheduled inventory count was set to take place tomorrow but was postponed, as detailed by this internal message:

“With additional activities happening this week, the Device and SIM count scheduled for April 22 has been cancelled.”

Internal Note

Apparently, cancelling inventory is considered “extremely unusual”, and it could mean something distracting or time consuming could be taking place.

In addition, the T-Mobile Tuesdays totebag that’s set to launch next Tuesday, the 29th of April, was originally planned to be launched tomorrow, the 22nd. That was also postponed due to these “additional activities”.

What could it be?

The good news for consumers is it’s likely not bad news per-se. We sincerely doubt it’s any form of new price increases or anything that would impact bills. There are a few theories as to what the news could be.

First, it could involve strictly employees, and not be relevant to customers at all.

One rumor is a change in pay schedules for employees, or policy shifts that could affect staffing. Another suggests that recent feelings about the shift to T-Life among employees hasn’t been great, and the company could be responding to that. Again, this is all speculation.

Another possibility is the launch of a new plan or new features to existing plans. Verizon recently came out swinging with upgrades to their highest myPlan, offering unlimited hotspot and added international calling features at no additional cost. It’s possible T-Mobile is preparing to respond to these moves.

Overall, we expect the news to be either positive or not matter at all to typical consumers. We’ll be sure to keep you updated, so keep an eye out for coverage tomorrow afternoon.
