Remember the days of the “One” plan, the plan that was supposed to be the singular plan to rule them all? Unfortunately we’re far from the glory days of T-Mobile’s prime, and with the current generation of plans aptly named “Go5G” back in April of 2023, you’d think we’d be good on plans for a while. Not so, apparently.
Today T-Mobile surprise announced two new plans: one for the military and one for first responders. Both of the new plans are under the “essentials” branding, meaning they’re slimmed down from their full-fat counterparts of the Go5G brand.
The pricing follows a similar pattern to how the base essentials plan is a bit cheaper than the standard Go5G plan. As the chart below shows, lines are approximately $10 to $20 cheaper than the Go5G variant, depending on number of lines desired.
The essentials versions offer no Netflix or Apple TV+ benefit, no high-speed hotspot data (just 600kbps), and no high-speed international data.
The new plans also don’t offer the new T-Priority network slice the company recently announced for free, instead locking it behind an optional $7.50 per month. Standard Go5G First Responder plans include a line with T-Priority at no cost.
The new plans are available beginning today, and can be signed up for on T-Mobile’s website. Though they’re not quite ready at time of publishing, they should be later today.
