Customers of T-Mobile will soon be able to enroll their existing devices in Protection 360, regardless of device age.

Protection 360 is T-Mobile’s in-house device protection program offering insurance coverage for customer devices. It’s backed by the insurance company Assurant, and covers everything from accidental damage to loss and theft. T-Mobile began offering in-store same-day repairs in some locations last year, as well.

According to internal documents shared with us here at The T-Mo Report, embedded below, this open enrollment period will begin April 5th and last through May 17th. Typically, Protection 360 must be added to the device at either the time of purchase or within 30 days of purchase.

Customers will be able to bring their devices to a T-Mobile store and complete a 3-point inspection on their device. The store representative will check for screen damage, water damage, and overall device functionality. If the device passes inspection, the customer will be granted Protection 360 on the device.

The Protection 360 coverage costs anywhere from $7 to $25 per month, depending on which of 6 pricing tiers the device falls under. More expensive devices like flagships will have a higher monthly Protection 360 cost.

T-Mobile also migrated Sprint customers who had “Sprint Complete” on their devices. That program offered similar coverage benefits but was done via Sprint’s insurance partner Asurion. Those customers were moved to Protection 360 in November.

Customers interested in adding the Protection 360 insurance coverage to their devices can begin doing so starting April 5th. Open enrollment lasts until May 17th.
