T-Mobile has decided to remove their “Block All/Blacklist All Short Codes” account setting, and it’ll impact 1.5 million customers.

According to a leaked document shared with The T-Mo Report, embedded below, T-Mobile plans to no longer offer this feature on August 18th. Existing customers with this feature will have it removed between August 31st and September 2nd.

Their reasoning seems to be that it causes more issues than it fixes, with customers regularly calling support asking why they aren’t getting 2FA texts and info messages from businesses.

Customers have complained on and off for years about not being able to receive texts from important services, especially their banks. Hopefully this change will fix the issue, and it’s clear T-Mobile hopes this will reduce support calls on the issue.

The carrier will continue to provide selective blocking, meaning individual short code numbers can still be blocked after this change.

Affected customers will receive texts informing them of this change over three days from the 17th to the 19th.
